Inconel round bars are a type of nickel-chromium alloy with excellent oxidation resistance at high temperatures, resistance to chloride-ion stress-corrosion cracking, and corrosion by high-purity water and caustic solutions. This makes inconel round bars an ideal choice for heat exchangers, furnaces, chemical processing equipment, and nuclear engineering applications. Inconel round bars offer superior durability and performance due to their unique combination of physical properties including excellent tensile strength, creep resistance up to 1150°C, good fatigue strength, low thermal expansion coefficient and low thermal conductivity.
Inconel round bars also have superior electrical resistivity compared to other alloys of similar composition. Additionally, inconel round bars are highly resistant to pitting and crevice corrosion in chloride environments which make them ideal for use as sparking electrodes in chemical processes or industrial atmospheres.
Inconel Round Bars Chemical Composition consists of nickel, chromium, and other alloying elements. Nickel provides good ductility and corrosion resistance at high temperatures, while chromium increases the hardness and strength of the alloy.
Other elements such as magnesium, silicon, titanium, and aluminum are also added to provide additional corrosion resistance and improved weldability. In general inconel round bars typically contain between 58-74% nickel with the remainder made up of chromium and other alloys. For applications requiring enhanced oxidation resistance inconel grade 718 contains an additional niobium content which further enhances its temperature resistant qualities. Additionally inconel 625 contains molybdenum for exceptional resistance to pitting, crevice corrosion, and stress cracking in high-temperature environments. All inconel rounds bars come with a variety of surface finishes including hot rolled black/pickled or bright polished bar stock to suit any application requirement.
